Journal Of A NewB Part i
by Nap
first of all let me thank you for taking
the time to click on my journal
entry. The reason for my journal is basically for others and
I who are
starting off in this industry to have a reference guide to
always look back
on. I am the type of person who likes to look at old homework
assignments to see where I messed up, and writing a daily/weekly
journal is almost a way of me checking my homework assignments
in a way. Plus it shows how much work I actually got accomplished
when I look back and read what I have done. So without any
further ado I shall begin my first journal entry, bare with
me.
Working Smarter, Not Harder
I have to admit when I first started working (not posting,
but actually working) all I had to do over whelmed me. I thought
building galleries was very easy, not time consuming and would
bring me lots and lots of money. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
This has been by far the most time consuming project that
I have done in about four or five years. My daily schedule
includes me waking up at eight, going to work from nine to
six, working out for an hour, then sitting in front of my
comp from seven to about two or three in the morning building
galleries with sponsor's content. And the days that I have
off of my normal job I'm usually sitting at my computer from
nine to about three in the morning. But I'm getting away from
the topic, working smarter and not harder. The more galleries
I build the better and faster I have gotten, natural progression.
For example when I first started I would make a gallery with
a different recip on top of the page (stupid now I realize),
leaving me with about 100 some odd index.html files. Well
now I have narrowed down my TGPs that I will submit to, and
I have also come up with a system of changing the recips (three
per page) so that I won't have anymore than 10 index.html
pages. Works pretty good so far. What I did was number my
galleries, and in a text document I put the html work for
those numbered galleries. So in text document, I have the
recips for 1-3, 4-6, 7-9
and I just paste the html code
on my newly built gallery. Might not be the fastest way to
do it but hey it's cutting back some of the work for me. I
also have come up with a decent way of keeping what I have
submitted to galleries (still not posting fulltime yet due
to trial and error). Luckily thanks to ebonytraffic.com's
message board I have found a few new tools to compress the
file size of the pictures that I plan on using for content.
Batch Processing is a savoir! USE IT! I still haven't found
anything to rename the pics the way I want them (1-14) but
I am pretty sure that there is something out there that does
it.
Finding A Sponser Worth Wild
Finding an ebony sponsor that has content that isn't over
used is literally
like finding a needle in a haystack. I have searched the majority
of the
main message boards in search of ebony sponsors, but all I
found was
garbage. Luckily I saw a link to Q's onprobation.com and I
found sponsors
that specialize in ebony sites with original women. Not to
leave out
RedShoe, PL, TDF or anything, because all four of their resources/icqs
helped me to find sponsors that fit me. I have read the TOS
of all the sites
very carefully (as informed by someone on the board) and took
them for what they are worth. Something that I have found
very annoying is this, when I sign up for a program that offers
"plenty of content" but after I sign up all I get
are SHITTY banners. I mean really how do they expect you to
promote a program when they are using generic banners and
are not giving out content? Do they expect you to buy a membership
to the site then use the pictures from the members' area?
I love the fact that with the majority of
my sponsors I can take their hosted gallery material and put
them in my own gallery designs (using their link codes/banners
of course). I know people see the same gallery over and over
so being able to throw their content in my galleries is a
plus. Plus the fact that I can send an icq to some of the
owners of the sponsors I have built galleries for (wouncie)
and ask them their opinion is also a big selling point. Having
the ability to talk to
someone who you are working for and they actually respond
is a very, very
good feeling. Makes you feel like your part of the family
and not just a
reference number on their monthly stats sheet. So far finding
a sponsor has
been about more than just content. I have had a few black
sites that offer
plenty of content but no interaction, be it not responding
to emails,
private message, icq's, aims or whatever. That is very annoying.
It's almost
like being spat upon. I can make you money but you don't want
to talk to me? It is understandable seeing as how the majority
of the "big boys" are busy doing other things like
thinking of more ways to make money and take care of their
business. But the purpose of ME trying to turn the adult industry
into a full time job is because I want to get away from the
un-personal feel of a real job. Having the ability to talk
to someone who makes very good money and owns a webmaster
program is as big of a turn on to this industry as working
at home is. It's not always about the money; this is a learning
experience for me, which will in turn make me money! Anyway
my 30-minute break is up, so I've got to get back to building
galleries and trying to figure out more ways to work smarter
and not harder. Have a nice and productive day to all those
who read my entry.
