not knockin kat or anything... but when did we become known as "ebony" people? last i checked, i was BLACK. there's nothing wrong with the word BLACK. white people started usin that shit cuz THEY figured it was insensitive to say it since some of "US" like to be called "african-american" but they couldn't say THAT cuz the net is international.

go ahead & register blacktraffic.com & fuck all the bullshit, main. what do you cats think? i don't think "ebony" sounds or works any better than "black". but hey... that's just me.

that domain was taken plus I wanted the board to be open to everybody and base the board around the black/ebony niche!

I guess I should have said, "RedTraffic" :D

But yeah man you're right. Green is the color of my revolution. I love money, and I hope that within 5 years I'll have enough to retire on.

That's a bold statement. And I just poseted it as a reminder to myself to stay focused and acquire wealth.

i think it was the europeans that made it like that,, then it just became an acceptable norm i guess

i'm sayin though.... cats use "ebony" as if "black" was/is bad (or at least not politically correct). there is nothing BAD about being or saying black... that's the point.

If I'm not mistaken, Stevie Wonder coined the term "ebony" to define black people back in the early 80's. "Ebony and Ivory" was the first time I heard anyone use it to refer to black people as ebony.

Hi Q. That's all true, but I'm not sure I understand the point you're trying to relay in this thread. Is ebony an inappropriate word when referring to the black online market, considering it's usually referring to a sexual "niche" and not an individual per say, ie. "Qon is a black man"?

Using the word "cracka" to refer to a white niche would be funny as hell, but perhaps inappropriate only because it might not effectively promote a comfort level with surfers that would promote optimum sales generation.

By the way, I don't see the net as black and white. I see it as pimps and pimpettes and greenbacks in my bank account. And I know you do too. :D

LOL... yep, sure do! nah... i'm just sayin "ebony" is like a PC word & as a black person, i don't feel the need to use it becuz "black" isnt a bad word & using "ebony" means that u are sayin it is (or maybe that's what you feel comfortable sayin no matter what color you are). feel me now?

I see the internet as a series of binary codes that are decoded and sorted out and arranged in a way that ... oh nevermind.

I don't think using the word ebony is an attempt to disparage the term black. It's a marketing angle, not a social statement. Like it or not, the world is a very PC place. Marketing gurus are the most aware of that reality, by definition of what they do.
